Who holds you accountable? Is it a person, a company, a plan? How do you know if you are staying on track? Who ensures you do the things you say you will do? When you start slacking, who do you answer to?
As children, we needed our parents to make sure we took baths, brushed our teeth, went to school and cleaned up after ourselves. Our guardians were there to ensure we did what we were supposed to do.
As adults, we have spouses, bosses, and mentors who hold us responsible to or obligations. The good spouses, bosses, and mentors help us be the best person we can be by calling witness to our lives and being open and honest about what they see. They will let us know if we are fulfilling our duties. A good spouse, boss, or mentor provides the kind of constructive criticism that will foster change and growth in us.
Working independently can be a challenge, having the right people in your corner, to hold you accountable, will help you get through. It is important that we honor and respect those holding us accountable or why would we listen to them.
I meet with my Accountability Partner once a week. We discuss what happened last week, goals for this week and a motivational message.
Having someone to hold you accountable will help you Execute the Plan.
